UK’s St Helens R.F.C. put on a fantastic show against Catalans Dragons, beating them despite being one man down.
On Saturday, February 10th, we watched the second round game of Super League, where St Helens squared off against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan, France. During their previous game in the Super League, St Helens was victorious, ending the game 48-28. So, entering this game the Brits were favourites on the UK betting sites once more.
Right from the start, St Helens established a lead by scoring two tries (Jonny Lomax and Regan Grace), while Catalans remained without a point in the first half. The second half kicked off with Catalans David Mead scoring, and shortly after more bad news came for Saints fans.
With 30 minutes left to play, Morgan Knowles received a red card due to a dangerous tackle on Thibaut Margalet. This was an excellent opportunity for Dragons to make a comeback. However, despite being one player short, St Helens remained composed and ultimately came out victorious 21-12.
This is the second win for the Saints, beating the 2017 Super League champions Castleford Tigers in their previous game. It seems that Justin Holbrook’s team is on a bit of a tear right now.
Finally, their next Super League game is against Huddersfield Giants on Friday, February 23rd at Kirklees Stadium.
