It’s always a delight getting acquainted with the services and offerings from the oldest and most reputable names in the betting industry. That’s why we are happy to announce we’re doing a Coral review today. If you’re wondering why are they so special, just wait until we get to their enormous sports and promotions offer; it is literally mouth-watering. So buckle up and count their pros and cons together with us.
They’ve Been Around for a While
Believe it or not, the history of Coral starts in 1926, when two bookmakers, Joe Coral and Tom Bradbury-Pratt, joined their bookmaking businesses. The business was going so well that by 1943, in the middle of WWII, they opened up a Coral Betting shop in London’s West End.
In the first couple of decades, the company exclusively dealt with greyhound races. However, in 1971, the British government legalised sports betting, and Joe Coral was the first one to recognise its future potential. That same year, the company merged with another bookmaker, Mark Lane, and became Coral Leisure Group, expanding to a variety of other businesses like hotels, casinos, and restaurants.
Now, here’s a fact you can’t find on any other reviews, not even Ladbrokes reviews for that matter: Coral was bought by Ladbrokes, but the government annulled the merger because it was deemed a monopoly. It made no difference for Coral, so in 1999 they acquired the Eurobet website and started their own online betting business, which has more and more customers each year.
Let’s Get Started
Before you can enjoy all the fun Coral has to offer, you’ll have to complete your registration. Fortunately, it’s not that big of a deal, and you won’t spend more than 10 minutes on the Coral sign in process.
Registration is divided into two steps. The first one requires you to enter your full name, address, country, phone number, birthday and email. When you’re done with it, you’ll be taken to step two, which requires you to enter your desired username and password. After that, a confirmation email will be sent to your address, and once you click on the link provided and log in, the registration process is over.
As you can see, the registration is done in a matter of minutes, and if you read any other reviews out there (especially William Hill reviews) and compare the sign-up processes, Coral outranks them all.
The bonus section at Coral is truly a wondrous place. When you find yourself on their promotions page, right from the start, you’ll notice that there are 22 different bonuses you can claim. Since there are so many of them, we’ve singled out some the best on offer, which will hopefully be of the most use.
First, there is the amazing New Customer Bonus, which beats most of Coral’s competition, especially Sky Bet, which doesn’t even have a new customer offer. Once you sign up, you just need to make a £5 Win or Each Way bet and you’ll receive 4 times £5 in free bets that you can use on any sport.
Then you have a Bet & Get Club bonus that gives you £10 in free bets if you make a £25 bet. All you need to do is opt-in, place a bet of at least £25, and you’ll get £10 worth in free bets from Monday to Thursday.
Another amazing one is the Coral Build a Bet bonus, which put you in a competition for £10,000. Just place a symbolic £1 bet on any qualifying games. If your bet wins, you’ll be eligible to enter the leaderboard, and if you maintain the first position by the end of September, you’ll receive a reward of £10,000. Couldn’t score that first position? No worries, Coral has a prize pool of £15,000 for the first nine runners-up.
The last bonus we’ll be mentioning in our Coral review is the special horse racing Enhanced Each Way bonus. Every day, Coral will give you boosted odds on one or two horse races. All you need to do is follow the Enhanced Each Way promo page, and you can find out which race is boosted.
Before starting your first game, you’ll need to put some cash in. First, find the big orange Deposit button on the top right corner of the page, and once you click on it, you’ll be taken to a deposit page.
Here we come to one of the weaker spots in our Coral review. They only accept four currencies: US dollars, Swedish kronor, British pounds, and euros. However, there is a wide variety of deposit methods to choose from: Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard, Maestro, paysafecard, ECO, Skrill, Skrill 1-Tap, and PayPal.
Once you’ve settled on your deposit method, enter the desired amount, and you can start the betting experience at Coral. Note that some of the bonuses are excluded if you use a certain deposit method, so make sure you read the promo page first, a fact you won’t find in most other Coral reviews out there.
Well, What Are We Waiting For?
After all the tedious legalities and formalities are over, we are finally free to enjoy what Coral has to offer. The website has more than 45 various sports and events to bet on. You can find classics such as football, American and Australian football, darts, greyhounds, snooker, Gaelic football, boxing, cricket, basketball, tennis, handball, horse racing, pool, ice hockey, Formula 1, motorsports, virtual sports, volleyball and UFC/MMA, as well as some quirky ones like politics and movies.
Now it’s time for a small Coral betting review of our own. You can access matches either from the front page, your betting slip, or the list of sports on the right side of the screen where you can click on any sport you like. Once you do that, you are taken to a sports page where everything is organised by leagues or championships. You have matches or races divided into separate boxes where you can find odds to click on.
Here’s another fact you won’t find on any other Coral review in 2018: Coral has recently introduced a live stream option, so whatever you’re betting on, watch out for the Coral Live Stream icon, and you may just follow your game online.
Once you place your bet by clicking on the odds, your bet slip will pop-up on the right side of the screen. There, you can choose the type of bet and the amount you’re wagering. Be warned, though, that you can’t cancel or change a bet once you’ve placed it. However, their betting process is simple and intuitive, unlike some other sites out there (check out nearly any Bet365 review, and you’ll see what we’re talking about).
It Works Flawlessly
The Coral website deserves all the praise for its interface and design, although a bit of colour variety really wouldn’t hurt. In spite of that, the website runs fluidly, there are almost no waiting periods between the pages, and the overall impression is that the Coral team did a great job with their website.
The top of the page contains links to their other franchises, such as the Casino, Bingo, Poker, Virtuals and Lotto, as well as a special VIP section. Below that you’ll see that Coral lists its full site content in one long list of matches and races, and you can place your bets right from there. On the top right side, you’ll find the My Account and Deposit buttons, as well as your balance display. Below it, you have your bet slip, which lists all of your bets. Don’t forget, however, that you can also access them from the My Account page.
The overall experience is highly satisfying. We spent a great deal of time on their website, and not once did it break down or show any glitches whatsoever, which, if you know your betting websites as we do, is a true rarity.
If you couldn’t be bothered sitting around all day in front of your desktop, you’ll be glad to hear that Coral has prepared mobile apps. Now here’s another thing you won’t find in any other Coral app review out there: Coral offers a special service called Connect that, as its name would imply, connects your account across multiple platforms like PC, Android and iOS. Ok, you might think, ‘How is this different from any other betting website?’ Well, Coral Connect gives you special weekly offers to claim, and you can collect your winnings even from their physical locations.
As for the apps themselves, you can download them from their dedicated web stores. It doesn’t matter which type of Coral app you chose; you’re in for a world of fun. Apart from having the full betting roster, the apps also have deposit options, and you can even do a partial cash-out through the apps.
Collecting Your Loot
Once your first wins come rolling in, you’ll definitely want to pick up the cash. If you want to make a withdrawal, just go to the My Account page and click on the Withdraw button. From there, the process is similar to depositing with the addition of a bank transfer as a withdrawal method.
It may be hard to believe, but you can check it out in other Coral reviews: they have a symbolic minimum withdrawal amount of only one penny. It will take an average of two days for credit cards and bank transfers and less than 24 hours for the e-wallet options.
They’ve Got Your Back
It’s safe to say that Coral’s security is completely up to the task of providing a safe and secure betting experience. The company is owned by GVC Holdings, a veteran in the industry that’s partnered with SoftSwiss, so Coral gaming software is definitely in good and experienced hands.
If at any time you start to experience problems that look like irresponsible gambling, Coral’s got your back. They have a special betting diary and a budget calculator that let you see how much you’re spending. Furthermore, you can set limits to your deposits, enroll in a Time Out or a Self-Exclusion Program.
As for fairness, Coral has a whole page dedicated to assuring you that all the games are fair. Here’s yet another fact you won’t find on any other Coral Sports review out there: their RNG outcomes are generated by the Virtue Fusion software. Similar to RNG, the Return to Player percentage is calculated in-house and subjected to internal testing that includes integration testing and user-acceptance testing.
If you have any problems while playing, they have you covered. In the bottom left corner, you’ll find the Help button. When you click on it, you’ll be taken to a page with all the methods by which you can reach them. There is a Coral Live chat button, email address and a telephone number (+44 (0) 208 507 5544) you can call between 08:00 and 22:00 UK time, as well as a Twitter link.
We contacted them through the live chat option. Now, before we continue, it’s important to note that if you rummage around the internet and try to find some customer reviews, you will find a lot of negative experiences about their customer support. When we tried to reach them, however, they responded within a couple of minutes and were very helpful, so it’s safe to say that Coral bookmakers don’t deserve most complaints.
With Coral, the conclusion almost draws itself. We were astonished by the fantastically rich offerings of sports and events found there, the bonus section literally has something for every taste and the customer support and security make for a relaxed and enjoyable experience. There's no doubt Coral belongs to our best betting sites in UK list.
However, we would like to see more improvements when it comes to interface and the general look of the website, as well as more currency options. Anyway, we hope our Coral review helped you reach the right decision. Have some great betting, and may Lady Luck be on your side.
