The infamous lightweight and welterweight contender is set to fight current welterweight champion Tyron Woodley for the belt at UFC 219.
The younger of the two Diaz brothers, Nate hasn’t fought since his rematch with Conor McGregor which he lost via majority decision. With the recent drama stirred up by Conor at Bellator 187 and the rumours of him being removed from the card, it would make sense that the UFC lack star power and PPV pull for their big night. Diaz has posted a picture that hints that he’s back in camp and training.
When it comes to Tyron Woodley, after his three title defences, he has publicly made known that he is looking for a so-called “money fight”, or a fight that’s going to bring a lot of viewers. He also posted a picture of his training gear with the hashtag “#CHAMPCamp”.
Woodley has said that the welterweight division needs to reshuffle and new contenders need to prove themselves. Don’t be surprised if he announces a fight in the next couple of days because that’s what he’s said will happen.
Will the long-awaited Nate Diaz comeback not feature Conor McGregor, possibly thanks to his own mistake? We will see as UFC 219 comes ever closer. Stay tuned for more sports news and place a bet on your favourite matches at some of the best UK betting sites.
