We are a little bit less than two months away from the Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker heavyweight title fight and the first undercard bout has been announced. There will be another heavyweight match on March 31st in Cardiff, and it will star David Price and Alexander Povetkin.
The 32-year-old Brit David is the former British heavyweight champion. He was holding the heavyweight belt from 2012 and until he lost to Tomy Thompson in February 2013. David has a professional record of 22 wins, 3 losses, and one no contest fight.
On the other hand, his next opponent is the 38-year-old former WBA heavyweight champion. Alexander has 33 professional wins and only one defeat against Wladimir Klitschko. The Russian will be a definite favourite on the UK betting sites, as he has a more impressive career.
Even David is aware of that. Recently, he commented that if he beats Alexander, this would be the biggest upset of his career.
He also added, “It is a massive, massive chance for me and it has come from nowhere. I will go in there completely free of any pressure. But make no mistake, I am coming to win. At first, I was just grateful for the opportunity. But now in my mind, I have to win this fight. There is plenty to gain and too much upside for me not to win this fight – it could be life-changing.”
David’s most recent fight was in last December, where he fought and won against Poland’s Kamil Sokolowski. Before that, David had a 10-month break after suffering a defeat from Christian Hammer via TKO. David’s career is full of ups and downs. At first, he was one of the most promising boxing prospects. But after losing twice in a row to Tomy Thompson, he wasn’t able to get back into the upper echelons of boxing despite winning seven out of his last eight fights.
However, if he manages to get the W against Alexander that could change quickly.
