After exciting matches that took place over the weekend, we have the two finalists of the FA Cup. On Saturday, Manchester United defeated Tottenham, while the winner of yesterday’s game was Chelsea. The Blues secured their place in the final round with a convincing 2-0 win over Southampton.
The semi-final stage of the competition is behind us. The upcoming match between Manchester United and Chelsea is scheduled for May 19th, and we’re a month away from discovering who will be the winner of this year’s FA Cup.
The man of the match between Chelsea and Southampton was Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman scored an incredible goal for the Blues after sidestepping two Southampton players.
The first halftime wasn’t as action-packed as fans hoped for. Chelsea’s overall play was better than their rivals’, but the Blues didn’t create chances to take advantage of that. Luckily, the second half of the match saw a lot more action. We saw two goals ending up in the Saints’ net.
The first goal that helped Chelsea get a lead came from Olivier Giroud less than 30 seconds into the second half. About 20 minutes later, the Saints were close to even the result. Somehow among the sea of Blues, Saints’ Charlie Austin managed to put the ball into Chelsea’s net. However, the referee Martin Atkinson disallowed the goal for Southampton, calling foul for Chelsea.
The man responsible for the second goal was Alvaro Morata. He netted a goal in the 82nd minute of the game. From that moment on, everyone knew Chelsea would be the opponent of Manchester United in the FA Cup finals.
Antonio Conte, Chelsea’s manager, believes that the Blues will be underdogs on the UK betting sites in the upcoming game against United. However, thanks to the incredible play Chelsea demonstrated yesterday, Conte might be wrong after all.
